When we focus on what we don't have or on situations that displease us, our mind also becomes darkened. You take for granted life, salvation, sunshine, flowers, and countless other gifts from God. We look for what is wrong and refuse to enjoy life until it is "fixed" so to speak.
Walk in the light with God by practicing the discipline of thanksgiving. (Psalm 116:17; Genesis 3:2-6; 1 John 1:7)
Just like Eve in the Garden of Eden, the Garden was filled with desirable fruits, but Eve focused on the one fruit she could not have rather than being thankful for the many good things freely available.
We have a tendency to focus on the things we don't have more than looking at the things we do have in our lives. I know I do, all the time. But I have to stop and realize the things in my life and be thankful for the things God has blessed me with. And that is the best way for Satan to get to us. He finds our weak point, the easiest way to make us fall or get angry at another or upset for no reason at all. Those little things in life that aggravate you the most, those moments when you yourself don't know why you're acting the way your acting. Because Satan is using little things like jealousy, and envy to come between you and God, and others around you. This is why God tells us to draw near to Him, to make us stronger against Satan, to build our faith in Christ. So with this, don't be quick to the ways of Satan. It is so easy for him to grab a hold of us and make us his puppet of lies, jealousy and envy. It's not what you want, believe me. Deep down in your heart you want it all to fade away and disappear. But you can't unless you take it to Christ. He is the answer to all questions. Take it to the cross.
